The 46-player squad will be trimmed down to a more manageable figure prior to the commencement of the tournament. Ellis is giving herself enough time for replacements in the event of players withdrawing at the eleventh hour.
The squad includes key stars such as Andile Dlamini, Kaylin Swart, Lebogang Ramalepe, Bambanani Mbane, Linda Motlhalo, Refiloe Jane, Kholosa Biyana, Nomvula Kgaole, Thembi Kgatlana, Jermaine Seoposenwe, and Hilda Magaia.
These players were instrumental when Banyana Banyana lifted their maiden WAFCON title in 2022, also in Morocco.
It should be noted that Kgatlana suffered an injury in the foot during the group stages of the 2022 tournament and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of that season. But Seoposenwe and Magaia picked up the goal-scoring baton, with Seoposenwe netting a double in the final to beat host nation Morocco.
